Jun Minagishi has been creating her own series of high-quality token cards since 1997. Her artwork is fanciful and reminiscent of anime. The printing process for these cards is very high quality. Each series is printed in quantities of 600-800 cards, so there are no more than 600 complete sets in the world, total. The foils are exceptionally rare, with a total production of perhaps 30.

First Card Back		Second Card Back

These card backs are representative of most of the cards. The first card back was used on the earlier cards and was designed by Arika Itsugamai. The second card back was used on cards starting in 1999, but there is no clear demarcation between the two backs. There are also the "Five" cards that are double-sided—one side has a single creature, the other the Five creatures—and a few other tokens that are double-sided. In the image galleries, click on the cards to flip it over. The foils are square-bordered, and have blank white backs, similar to artist proofs. There were also some glossy Minagishi token cards that were created with normal Magic card backs, which probably didn't sit too well with WotC Legal.

Jin Arai-produced Booster Packs

Minagishi's tokens were produced by Crazy Clowns, which is run by Jin Arai. The cards were printed by Kansai Art Printing Corporation and packaged in booster packs of twelve cards. Every tenth pack (on average) had a special or "secret" card, usually a foil.

Crazy Clowns also produced token cards from other artists, including Keito Matsushita and Risono-Roma. These cards are also included here. Note that Crazy Clowns is no longer distributing any token cards. The only way to acquire these cards is on the secondary markets.
